“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination, and brings eternal joy to the soul.” -Robert Wyland
Celebrating World Ocean Day after just returning from a week on the South Carolina coast, I’m gratefully still under the ocean’s spell.
This past week was a reminder that my love of the sea is deeply rooted beyond my own experiences, but in the connection we all feel to her energy and mystery. The constant rhythm of the tide offers clarity and peace. It’s always moving, evolving; a comfort as we all must continue to change and grow.
While I live in the middle of the country, far from the ocean, I carry reminders with me each day. Through collections of shells and books on the subject, most notably the classic “A Gift From the Sea,” which I read often, I return in my memories to that liminal place at the edge of the sea. Grateful for the joy that it brings.
